THE MINISTER CITED PERSONAL REASONS THAT HINDER HIS ABILITY TO ATTEND TO MINISTERIAL DUTIES.
The Minister in the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, National Resources and Co-operatives, Sen Jimmy Henry, has resigned.
The minister said the decision is due to personal reasons that hinder his ability to attend to ministerial duties.
“For reasons altogether personal, I have decided to tender my resignation with immediate effect from the senate and as a minister,” Sen Henry announced via video statement. “Due to these personal matters, at this time I am unable to give the attention necessary to my ministerial duties.”
The minister went on to thank his colleagues, and the public at large, for the opportunity to serve his country, and wished the government every future success.
“My fellow Saint Lucians, I take the opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to the Government of Saint Lucia, and to the Hon Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, in particular, for having afforded me the high honor of serving my country as a member of the Saint Lucia Senate, and as Minister in the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, National Resources and Co-operatives. To my Cabinet colleagues, I say thank you for your guidance and support received over the past year. I continue to have full confidence in the direction of the government, and wish my colleagues all the best in achieving success.”
The minister also expressed gratitude to supporters in the constituency of Dennery (north).
“I wish to thank my dedicated supporters in Dennery (north) who have stood by me through thick and thin, and I assure all of you of my confidence in the advancement of our community under the current administration.”
Meanwhile, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Co-operatives, Hon Ezechiel Joseph, thanked Sen Henry for contributing to the development of the country.
“On behalf of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Hon Allen Chastanet and the Cabinet of Ministers, I wish to state that we have accepted the resignation of Mr Jimmy Henry,” he said.
