Five outstanding Saint Lucians were recognized with the Queen’s Birthday Honours, yesterday, for exemplary service to country.

The Investiture ceremony for recipients of Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday honours was held at the Government House, Morne Fortune.

Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony told the recipients that the Queen’s Birthday Honours is one of the most prestigious awards.

“By this investiture ceremony you enter into the portals of a special place of honour. It’s a very unique place for you,” he said. “You join thousands of persons in the United Kingdom, and the British Commonwealth. It is a place of honour not just for you the awardees but for your families, your communities and your friends.”

This year’s recipients were awarded for their contribution to community and country in the following categories.

Kenneth Foster, CBE, Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, for services to Politics, the Law and the Community; Thomas Walcott, OBE, Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, for services to Engineering, Politics and the Public Sector; and Evans Cauldron, MBE, Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, for services to Politics and Law.

The British Empire Medal was awarded to Hugh Perry Breustraal for services to sport and Mary Vianney JnPierre, for services to early childhood education.
