The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) is continuing infrastructural upgrades on the sewerage network serving Castries central, including Block X of the CDC building on Coral Street.

The work builds on WASCO's recent interventions in the city's sewerage system, following the service disruption at the Jeremie Street station last month. Crews have since continued maintenance across the Castries network, where the company is working to strengthen the reliability of wastewater services for residents and businesses in the area. WASCO recognises the distress and health concerns that disruptions of this nature cause for residents, and our crews remain ready to respond swiftly and efficiently.

As part of broader efforts to modernise its sewer network, WASCO confirms that new, state‑of‑the‑art pumps have been installed, commissioned, and are now fully operational. These pumps are actively supporting the system, improving reliability, reducing the risk of overflows, and enhancing the efficiency of sewerage management. Their installation marks a significant step forward in improving the capacity and reliability of wastewater management in Castries central, and safeguarding public health.

These works form part of the priorities set out in WASCO's Water and Wastewater Master Plan: the company's 25-year framework, developed with support from the Caribbean Development Bank, for building climate-resilient water and wastewater services across the island. Castries central, with its aging collection network, is identified in the Plan as one of the highest priorities for investment.
