Taiwan Scholarships 2016

The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development & Labour informs of the call for applications for the 2016 “Taiwan Scholarship”, ICDF and Medical scholarship programmes.  These scholarship programmes provide opportunities to young talented Saint Lucians to study in Taiwan for Bachelor, Master or PhD degrees.  

GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR TAIWAN SCHOLARSHIPS
•    Applicants who have received any of the above mentioned scholarships before from the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and would like to apply for the 2016 Scholarship for higher education, their previous graduate date in Taiwan and return to Saint Lucia should be prior to 31st July, 2015. Please also attach a copy of the stamped page of the arrival record from passport or other related proof while handing in application data.

•    The applicant should be Saint Lucian, and shall not have any previous record of denial, withdrawal or refusal of the grant of any scholarship from the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
For “Taiwan Scholarship” 
Please read carefully the “Guidelines for the MOFA Taiwan Scholarship Programme”; fill out the “APPLICATION FORM FOR THE MOFA TAIWAN SCHOLARSHIP” and deliver it with a copy of your highest education certificate and transcript authenticated by the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour or relevant authorities as well as two reference letters, and a Police Clearance Letter to the Embassy.

For the “ICDF Scholarship”

Fill out application form, and follow the required procedure. Applicants need to complete the university application procedure first. The required application procedure, Q &A, and the list of partner universities are disclosed on the above-mentioned website.

Applicants also need to present ICDF “Taiwan ICDF Medical Report”, including the HIV negative test result.  All the dates of these reports should be within 3 months of the application date. For more information, please visit:

Applicants should then print out the hard copy of the necessary application forms, together with a copy of the highest education certificate and a transcript authenticated by the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour or relevant authorities. For Saint Lucia Government Officials who are interested in the scholarship programmes, approval documents from their assigned Ministry will be needed for the application form.  Also these officials must complete the Government Scholarship Application form and submit to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Department of the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour, with a copy of the Taiwan Scholarship application form.   The Government Scholarship Application form can be accessed via the website: http://www.govt.lc/forms/scholarship-application-form or at the HRD Department of the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development & Labour, 4th Floor, Francis Compton Building, The Waterfront, Castries.  
The Embassy will interview applicants for the “Taiwan Scholarship” and ICDF programmes. The actual date and venue for the interviews will be announced at a later date.

As for the Medical Scholarship applicants, both written exam and interview will be held in the Embassy. The written exam covers topics on English, Chemistry and Biology.  The date of the exam is tentatively scheduled for 22nd April, 2016. The interview will be via skype with the professor from Taiwan and the Embassy.  The date for the interview is provisionally scheduled for 27th to 28th April, 2016. The actual date will be announced later.

An awardees list will be posted on the Embassy’s website on 30th June, 2016.
A briefing session about the 2016 “Taiwan Scholarship”, ICDF and Medical scholarship programmes will be held by the Embassy.  The actual date and venue will be further announced.

 
All application documents should be delivered to the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Reduit Beach Ave., Rodney Bay, Gros Islet, by the deadline 15th March, 2016, any delivery beyond that date, or delivery without all required documents will not be accepted
